If you are expecting to have a longterm substitute, contact me. Plan ahead!
I'll need the following information. The expected start and end date for the sub and his/her name.
If this person has done a longterm assignment in the past, that speeds thing up, for they'll already have a KISD email that will just need to be activated.
The ITF (me) contacts tech support and sets up everything. Isn't that nice? You are absolutely NOT to give the sub your log in information so that they can access programs. There is NO need for this, and it is a violation of the acceptable use policy to do so.
Can my longterm sub take the class to the computer lab and work with students on the computer in the classroom? Absolutely! It is only day-to-day subs that can't use computers (since they don't sign the acceptable use policy, nor are they bound by it.)
You'll be contacted once your substitute is set up.
Please leave your sub a note about his/her login, just in case they haven't logged in before. (You'll get that from me.)
We don't assign your voice mail to the sub, so you'll still have access to it while you are out. In order to avoid having you forwarding messages from parents to the sub, please change your voice mail message to instruct parents to reach the teacher via email. (You'll also get the sub's email address from me.) It is also a good idea to have your team's "teacher web webmaster" put this information on the team's webpage under contact information.
